Introducing the Financial Aid U Training Institute
NCTC is happy to announce the opening of our new Financial Aid U Training Institute! In conjunction with the Citi Foundation, NCTC created the Training Institute to educate and train new, selected organizations to implement FAFSA preparation services in their communities.
Since 2008, Financial Aid U (FAU) has helped thousands of students seek financial aid and apply to college. Through FAU, community-based organizations like yours provide students with the assistance they need to find financial aid resources that will help them pay for postsecondary education.
Research shows college attendance rates for low-income students lag 20-40 percent behind higher-income students. Many low-income students are not aware that financial aid is available, and those who do are often discouraged by the high cost of attending college – and it’s only going up.
NCTC is enthusiastic about involving new programs across the country in the new FAU Training Institute initiative. The Institute is a blended learning opportunity – including online courses and a 2½ day workshop, designed to develop the capacity of more organizations across the country to decrease the gap of low- to moderate-income students enrolling and even applying for post secondary education.
Staffed by financial aid experts from the academic world as well as current FAU partners, this will be a hands-on opportunity to learn and develop the skills needed to implement this initiative in your community.
