FAU Allows Students to Reach Their Full Potential
The voting continues until Tuesday, October 15th for NCTC and the Citi Foundation for the Best Partnership Award for the Financial Aid U program. You can vote once per day, every day!
With funding from the Citi Foundation, Financial Aid U (FAU) has helped put more than 8,000 students across the U.S. on the path to earning a college degree. Our program helps steer students through the complex financial aid process and unlocks millions of dollars in federal and state aid and loan funding. For these students, financial aid is a crucial determining factor in their decision and ability to pursue a college degree.
Joel and Alfredo are just two examples of the meaningful support FAU provides in communities throughout the country.
Joel was a senior in high school when he lost his parents due to street violence and imprisonment. Even though Joel had trouble believing it, college was always an option for him. Our FAU Partner in Philadelphia was able to help him make it a reality through their step-by-step FAFSA completion workshop. Joel began attending Temple University in the fall of 2012!
“After twenty years, I had decided to return to college and finish my studies. I was hesitant to begin this journey and always felt my finances prevented me from finishing school. I made an appointment to do my taxes with the local VITA site and to my surprise found out they also assisted with the FAFSA. With the aid of the staff, the FAFSA process was a breeze. Now I am proud to say that I am currently attending college and my expenses are being fully funded through grants. This whole experience has been life changing.” – Alfredo, Miami, FL
FAU helps to create a college-going culture that breaks down barriers and allows students to reach their full potential. By creating realistic expectations about the cost of college, the need for college savings, and the potential of a degree, FAU equals successful students.
